This ultra-powerful electric sports car wants to tickle the Tesla Roadster

The German manufacturer Wiesmann is making a comeback, this time with a small electric sports car, which should compete head-on with the Tesla Roadster. A few years ago, electric cars had little potential for seduction, it must be admitted. But over the years, and with Tesla in the lead, these have started to become more and more desirable, adopting more elegant lines, no longer having anything to envy to thermal models. An evolution which will undoubtedly have allowed their democratization and their success. We are of course thinking of the models of the brand of Elon Musk, and in particular the Roadster, which should see the light of day during the next year. But it could be that the latter will not remain alone for long in this segment. And for good reason, another major competitor is also about to enter the market. A small electric convertible, which marks the return of a historic brand, which disappeared in 2014 and then bought in 2015. The strong comeback of Wiesmann This is Wiesmann, a German manufacturer founded in 1985 and particularly known for its roadsters with a neo-retro look. After many years without giving any news, the firm is making a comeback, lifting the veil on a brand new model. And for good reason, it is an unprecedented convertible powered this time not by BMW mechanics but by a 100% electric motor. Called "Project Thunderball" and still at the prototype stage, this newcomer has no less than two electric motors, developing a total power of 680 horsepower for 1,100 Nm of torque, all sent to the rear wheels. As announced on the brand's website, the sports car is then able to achieve 0 to 100 km / h in just 2.9 seconds. This is worse than the Tesla Roadster, which performs the exercise in 2.1 seconds. More than 500 km of autonomy Embarking on a 92 kWh battery with 800-volt technology, this Wiesmann " Project Thunderball " should then be able to travel up to 500 kilometers on a single charge. It would only take about 20 minutes to go from 20 to 80% on a 300 kW terminal. With its carbon fiber bodywork, the roadster weighs 1,700 kg, while that of its rival at Tesla is not yet known. Designed to display sporty behavior and great efficiency in curves, the sporty convertible is equipped with a limited-slip differential as well as a stability controller. If the prices have not yet been announced, they should probably be around 150,000 euros, while the Tesla Roadster starts at 172,000 euros.
