Donald Trump's 1997 Lamborghini Diablo goes up for auction

Donald Trump's 1997 Lamborghini Diablo goes up for auction

The Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster 1997, specifically customized for former U.S. President Donald Trump, will be auctioned at the Barrett-Jackson event in Scottsdale, Arizona.

This luxurious car is unique, as Trump was allowed to request it specially due to his personal connection with Lamborghini. The automaker provided him with some "borrowed" Diablo cars for promotional purposes. Thanks to this alleged partnership, the businessman turned president was able to order his car with a "Blu Le Mans" paint, not officially available in 1997.

The personalized touches don't end there. The car features a "Donald Trump 1997 Diablo" plaque on the driver's door. Trump ordered the new car and kept it until the summer of 2002. Two other owners have possessed it since then, and the odometer reads only 24,836 miles (39,970 km). However, the auction listing on Carfax indicates a "mileage inconsistency."

The car boasts a mid-mounted 5.7-liter V12 engine producing 492 horsepower (367 kW / 499 hp) and a torque of 582 Newton-meters (430 lb-ft). It is connected to a five-speed manual transmission, sending power through an all-wheel-drive system.

This configuration allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, reaching a top speed of 325 km/h. The auction listing does not provide many other details about the car, but it is being sold without a reserve price and comes with brochures, tool kits, and a cover. The exterior seems to be in excellent condition, with the "Blu Le Mans" paint and five-spoke wheels looking almost brand new.

Moving to the interior, we can see a dual-tone cabin with an analog clock and a digital climate control unit. It also includes an Alpine sound system and an H-gate shifter.

There is no auction estimate provided, but being one of the 132 cars produced for the United States between 1997 and 1999 makes it rare even before its association with former U.S. President Donald Trump. Alongside the 1997 Lamborghini Diablo, Donald Trump has owned several other luxury cars over the years, including a Rolls-Royce Phantom, a Mercedes-Benz S-Class, a Cadillac Escalade, a Chevrolet Camaro, a Ferrari F430, and a McLaren MP4-12C.
