China new models October 2023: Haval Raptor and Tank 400 arrive – Best Selling Cars Blog

A new design for the Haval Raptor car has been leaked online, which will be available in two versions: a gasoline car and a plug-in hybrid PHEV car.

The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) leaked images of the latest 2025 Haval cars before their imminent debut. The Chinese Raptor was initially revealed as a plug-in hybrid PHEV last year, and it is now set to receive a traditional combustion engine, according to a news report published on Car News China.

The plan to reveal a gasoline engine version of this new Haval car indicates that even Chinese automakers are not immune to the declining demand for electric cars. Before discussing the familiar design and striking model name, let's look at the engine. The new Haval Raptor will be equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 235 horsepower. There is no information about the transmission, but it is likely to be a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which Haval uses in most of its cars. Power is sent to all four wheels, with a top speed limited to 200 km/h (124 mph).

The hybrid version of this model will combine a 1.5-liter turbo engine with two electric motors, producing a combined output of 295 horsepower. Although the Raptor's design is beautiful, it borrows several cues from off-road vehicles made by other companies, featuring hints from the Land Rover Defender, Ford Bronco, and elements of the new Toyota Land Cruiser's front end. Interestingly, Haval has given the combustion-engine Raptor a different front end, with attractive square headlights flanking a new grille with vertical chrome bars and smaller Haval badges. The PHEV hybrid version has a more robust appearance, with round headlights, horizontal grille bars, and a large Haval badge. Customers can choose from wheel sets in sizes 265/60R18, 245/55R19, and 255/60R19.

Haval likely made these design changes to distinguish the Haval Raptor from the flagship Haval H9, a competitor to the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 in the Chinese automaker's lineup.

The dimensions of the Haval Raptor are:

  • Length: 4,679 mm
  • Width: 1,951 mm
  • Height: 1,821 mm
  • Wheelbase: 2,736 mm
