Dodge Charger 2024, bienvenido el primer muscle car eléctrico de fábrica

Dodge Charger's new specification might incorporate features available in Pagani's cars related to improving aerodynamics by adding movable front edges (active front wings).

Dodge engineers have contemplated adding more active aerodynamics to the next generation of Charger cars, including registering a new patent from FCA in the United States. Details of the integrated R-Wing system at the front edge of the front cover were designed to reduce front lift and drag, although it's unclear if the feature will be available in production cars. The existing front edge wing, supported by a central strut, helps direct air over the car. The new aerodynamic system, as outlined in the patent, adds active panels to the equation, adjusting airflow as needed. This isn't a new idea, as cars like Pagani Huayra and Ferrari LaFerrari feature similar technology.

These front edge wings can move as a single unit or independently, allowing the system to assist during braking or in specific driving conditions such as high-speed corners. They can work alongside Charger's suspension system and adjust their angle based on driving mode, car speed, and environmental conditions like ambient temperature, or they can be manually adjusted by the driver.

We've previously discussed expectations of Dodge introducing a rear-wheel-drive budget-friendly Charger Daytona GT. Dodge has a lot to prove with the new Charger, especially since it has abandoned the V8 Hemi engine and opted for electric battery option. It seems the brand is serious about the car's performance capabilities if it's designing active aerodynamics for the model.

We know Dodge is preparing a Banshee version with 800 volts, but it won't arrive until next year, and it would be the perfect candidate for these movable front edge aerodynamics. As a reminder, we introduced you to the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona, the first electric muscle car, which officially debuted in March last year. Initially, two versions were announced:

  • Charger Daytona R/T, with horsepower, accelerates from 0 to 96 km/h in 4.7 seconds, covers a quarter-mile in 13.1 seconds, and has a top speed of 220 km/h.
  • The new Charger Daytona Scat Pack with 670 horsepower accelerates from 0 to 96 km/h in 3.3 seconds, covers a quarter-mile in 11.5 seconds, and has a top speed of 216 km/h.
